“The only real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.” – Marcel Proust
My first long run of the 16-week training plan is tomorrow. It’s 10 miles. I’ve run that distance before, so it won’t be a ‘new landscape,’ as Proust says, nor will it be in the lovely Italian countryside, but I hope to approach it with new eyes. Last time it was the second-longest I ran to train for the half-marathon, and this time it’s the shortest long distance I’m going to be tackling for the full marathon. It’s the beginning of the journey, not the end.
I’m going to fuel up in the morning with some homemade bread (post on that coming soon), go to church, hit the gym for a slow and steady 10 and some light ab work, then go to Yoga Rocks the Park, my favorite new summer tradition.
Sounds pretty fantastic to me.
